Gwaith maen a ffantasi ~ Masonry and fantasy

(Castell Coch)

Aethon ni allan eto heddiw. Y tro hwn gwnaethon ni seiclo ar hyd y Daith Taf i Dongwynlais. Gwnaethon ni pasio'r fynedfa i Gastell Coch ac yn parhau i'r Fforest Cafe. Mae'r Fforest Tea Room yn ddiddorol oherwydd roedden ni'n arfer cyrraedd yna ar ôl daith cerdded hir trwy'r goedwig, ond mae'n ar y ffordd hefyd os byddwch chi'n dod o gyfeiriad arall. Mae'n lle rhwng dau fyd. Roedd amser cinio, felly cawson ni frecwast mawr ar y caffi ac yna ymlacion ni am ychydig, yn mwynhau'r heulwen ac yn gwrando ar y paun. Ac yna ac yna gwnaeth y tywydd yn troi ac decheuodd e bwrw eira mawr. Roedden ni'n jyst meddwl efallai y bydd yn rhaid i ni fynd adref pan wnaeth yr eira yn stopio a daeth yr haul yn allan eto.

Gwnaethon ni yn ôl i fyny'r ffordd i Gastell Coch. Doedden ni ddim wedi bod yno ers blynyddoedd a gwnaethon ni eisiau gweld yr addurniadau ysblennydd eto. Cafodd y castell ei adeiladu yn y pedwerydd ar bymtheg ganrif ar ben olion o'r drydedd ganrif ar ddeg. Mae'n lle eithaf anhygoel - mae'n rhyfeddol yr hyn y gellir ei greu os oes gennych lawer o arian. Disgrifiodd y canllaw-sain fe fel 'Gwaith maen a Ffantasi' ac rydw i'n cytuno.

Ar ôl oriau yn cerdded o gwmpas y Castell aethon ni i'r siop anrhegion (wrth gwrs) cyn seiclo adre.

We went out again today. This time we cycled along the Taff Trail to Tongwynlais. We passed the entrance to Castell Coch and continue to the Forest Cafe. The Forest Tea Room is interesting because we used to get there after a long walk through the woods, but it's on the way too if you come from another direction. It is a place between two worlds. It was lunch time, so we had a great breakfast at the café and then relaxed for a while, enjoying the sunshine and listening to the peacock. And then and there the weather turned and it started to snow. We just thought we might have to go home when the snow stopped and the sun came out again.

We made our way back up to Castell Coch. We hadn't been there for years and we wanted to see the spectacular decorations again. The castle was built in the nineteenth century on top of thirteenth-century remains. It's a pretty amazing place - it's remarkable what can be created if you have a lot of money. The audio guide described it as 'Masonry and Fantasy' and I agree.

After hours walking around the Castle we went to the gift shop (of course) before cycling home.
