French Kissing ~

But in Shropshire.

The Pigeons think Spring is in the air whereas I don’t!   Still struggling with this horrid lurgy and one minute I want to divest myself of all my outer layers (not advisable!) and the next to not having enough thermals on for starters and my throat thinks it is being savaged by 100 razor blades, so another unproductive and slow day for me.

Friends who have recently moved into our town from Wootton Bassett and he, a fellow glider pilot with Mr HB, have both just had Covid and his wife is on Day 11 now but still struggling.  She is the owner of the lovely dog ‘Gem’ who we occasionally dogsit.  After doing some shopping for me kindly Mr HB popped round to collect Gem and took him for a long walk along the canal.  Unfortunately he rolled in something yuk, so although K was very grateful to him for taking Gem for a walk, she wasn’t too happy with having to deal with de-gunking Gem!!

Whilst Mr HB was out I had a welcome visit from Mr HB’s ex-daughter in law and partner who run a small coffee shop/café in town.  He is a fabulous chef and she a fabulous baker.  They’ve had the shop for just over 5 years, survived the lockdowns and are fully up and running again with a vengeance.  They work so hard and have only just got over a bout of Covid themselves.  Knowing I wasn’t too well they came armed with early Easter wishes, and a crate full of wonderful goodies:  Just cooked. Orange marmalade  Ham Hock (we’ll have some of that this evening), 2 pieces of beautiful looking steak, sausages, bacon and some minted lamb;  a cheese board, a box of fruit and a bottle of Hardy’s Cabernet Shiraz (don’t feel up to that yet though).  They said it was instead of Easter eggs!  – They are little angels and so very kind to us.  Always so proud of them.
