Golden Repair

This large egg, in the garden, has a great effect with the gold painted cracks. It wasn't always so!
Hendrix picked it up one day, a few weeks ago, and as he tried to turn it to look into the hole in the bottom it slipped and smashed on the ground.
Surprising on a couple of counts. One - that he could pick it up, it's very heavy, and two - that it smashed as it is thick and, you'd think, very strong.
He didn't break it maliciously, it was a pure accident. It has lain in the garage for a few weeks until last week when I attempted to glue it together. Unfortunately, some of the tough 'Gorilla' glue ran along a couple of the seams which made it very difficult to fit it, exactly, together.
However, the effect is a slightly larger gap which has been glued and then filled with a different Gorilla glue, in a large tube like decorators caulk that you use in one of those whatchamacallit's (mastic gun maybe?).
Marlane then scraped any excess glue and filler to smooth it off and painted the cracks with gold 'Hammerite' smooth paint. I think the effect is quite amazing, although the gold doesn't really show up too well in the photograph.
