A Reed Bunting

I hiked across to the river this morning in bright sunshine, although it wasn't long before it clouded over.

No camera to hand as I stopped to chat to a male yellowhammer sitting on a hedge less than four feet away.  I must admit it was rather good to be able to admire such a fine bird so close.

Nothing much along the river except this reed bunting, which was chirruping happily and fluffed up against the chilly breeze.

Heading up towards the road I met up with one of our camera club members who has just picked up his new Olympus OM-1, which he let me handle for a quick inspection.  Hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer for mine to arrive.

No sign of the kites or buzzards today, but it is Sunday.
