Visit to Brougham Hall and Brougham Castle

Friend R took me exploring near Penrith today. We started at Brougham Hall, where there were quite a number of craft shops where we both bought items and had a delicious lunch. The weather was good enough for us to sit outside to eat, and although we started off with sunshine, it got quite cold when the clouds rolled in. This is my main blip
In extras you can see Brougham Castle. This has quite extensive grounds and buildings alongside the river Eamont. Friend R was able to get up to the the third floor.
Both buildings had been part of Lady Anne Clifford’s portfolio. We have come across her before. A woman in advance of her time. She eventually owned a number of properties across Cumbria that she managed to get control of from her male relative. Good for her! Definitely a lady ahead of her time.
