Everyday I Write The Book

Contrasts

The morning was a combination of work and domestics. A colleague had been rammed in the rear over the weekend and not only was his car spectacularly damaged, he was feeling the after-effects and finding it difficult to see a doctor. Hopefully it will be nothing serious. We did a bit of teamwork to cover his commitments.

Went to the Imperial War museum in the afternoon and spent the whole time in the  holocaust galleries. Harrowing and sad but also scary because of the world we live in today. Bucha and Belsen are both about mass graves born of a staggering disregard for life. Putin, like Hitler, seeks to cover his tracks but there is no hiding place only speculation about whether justice will be served and if it is, what form it will take.

Can’t believe Victor Oban has won a fourth term in Hungary. Another f****d up country although not in the same league as Russia.

We had a fantastic walk back to Waterloo. Trinity Church square and the nearby backstreets. Beautiful architecture. Stopped at The Hoxton for cocktails and a light bite. Seriously nice staff, food and drinks. Our waitress was from Madrid so we talked about our upcoming trip to Barcelona.

Overheard whilst walking: a couple having a very public conversation which culminated in him yelling “I’ve only ever slept with four women! Four women!” and her throwing her arms wide in what seemed like a gesture of disbelief.

15,000 steps, bunion plasters, a typewriter designed for yiddish speakers and a leaky box of melon fingers all helped to make the day memorable.

I’ve done a google album. The day deserved it.
