Never Mind The Daisies, Check Out The Moss

How did the daisy get its name? (Pretty story coming up) - it is contraction of Day's Eye.  The flower opens in the morning - like an eye and closes again at night.

I read about many other words last night that quite caught my fancy but none as lovely as what comes next.

May I present "Mumpsimus".  You will all know at least 1 Mumpsimus.  The word was coined 500 years ago and had long fallen into disuse.  Its time has come again.   It's what you would call someone who insists they are right, despite clear and incontrovertible proof that they are not.

If you have more than 50 on your list, I suspect you work for a company that I used to work for.

Your job is to drop it into some sort of meeting at work this week.  I'm already working on coining the German school of thought of (der) Mumpsimusismus.  I'm quite sure we can get (die) Mumpsimusheit out of it as well.

Use your new word well, use it often.
