Leaves

My first wander around the Chapter House at the Minster, since the £2m restoration work.

The Leaves of Southwell
..are detailed carvings of plants, animals and green men found within the Chapter House. They are regarded as the best example of 13th-century naturalistic carving in England. Research suggests that it was the work of the Master of Naumburg, famed for his work on Naumburg Cathedral, central Germany.

Green Man
.. is a legendary being primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of new growth that occurs every spring. The Green Man is most commonly depicted in a sculpture, or other representation of a face which is made of, or completely surrounded by, leaves.
