SF Blues

Over three and a half months since previous concert, and Erja Lyytinen's spring tour not coming anywhere near us, we went to SF Blues 20th anniversary tour concert instead. It was in Tampere Hall and we got front row seats, though in a corner. Great visibility to the stage!

SF Blues is a Finnish blues "supergroup" formed by Heikki Silvennoinen, Dave Lindholm and Pepe Ahlqvist. On this tour their rhythm section is drummer Harri Ala-Kojola and bassist Mikko Löytty. They have a few guest stars, of whom Jukka Gustavson was behind his Hammond almost all evening, Pepe's son Jan (born during their first tour!) visited the stage a couple of times, and veteran rocker Ile Kallio took the lead for a while during the first set, and all of them were on stage together at the end.

I had only my phone cam along, and the shots I got were not great. I think this is the best and all except Mr. Kallio are there. From the left Gustavson, Silvennoinen, Lindholm, Ahlqvist Sr. and Jr., Ala-Kojola and Löytty.

They played a lot of classics, mostly old blues, Fleetwood Mac, Procol Harum and the likes. Less material of their own than I thought there would be, as all three and the older guests have about 50 years of recording career behind them. A little disappointment was that one of their guests, Noora Louhimo, was ill. Had she been there, I expect we would have heard a memorable rendition of "Piece of My Heart".
