Promising buds in the garden

Can't wait to see what comes out of here, looks like something pink/purplish. I've grown very familiar with tropical plants, but my knowledge of the average European garden shrub is not that great :-)

Today was mostly grey and drizzly, so I decided to spend time trying to catch up on the Coursera course on Modern History that I am following. I've got to catch up on three weeks and it is moving fast forward from WWI to WWII

Doing this from the kitchen table and got distracted lots of times by turf wars between magpies and jays and by a red squirrel (YES! it's been so long since I saw a red squirrel) passing through. They were all moving too fast to capture :-)
