Oat Houses.

These buildings are now rare in Kent.  Their use was to dry hops before the hops  went to be part of the beer making process.  In the 70s hop gardens were still numerous, but wasn't long before a decline began, which had a knock on effect on the oast houses.  Today many have been converted into houses, the outsides mainly left intact.
A late post today.
