Tension mounts

One of the problems with supporting a team is that you end up getting involved in the minutiae of its existence. A second problem - and perhaps more significant - is that your team doesn't always win. A third problem is that there are often important matches that dominate entire days. This third problem was top of mind today, as Liverpool travelled to Manchester City for the top-of-the-table clash that was billed as defining the season. It ended up in a draw - which was a relief, because we could have lost, and frustrating, because we could have won. Ultimately, it was better for them, because they are still a point a head of us with seven games to play, so it is now their lead to lose. Which means every game from now on acquires this 'do or die' status. It's fantastic if you succeed... devastating if you don't. There is no in-between.
