Living my dream

It’s been a damp day.

In order to make the most of a day when gardening wasn’t going to happen, we went to town for the weekly shop and library visit. When I say ‘shop’ it was for milk and dog food. As usual.

The milk comes from real cows (instead of reconstituted dried milk, which makes up the vast majority of milk brands in NZ - ridiculous) in real glass bottles. I collect it from a dairy farm just outside Oamaru every week. It costs more than the mass-produced white water in the supermarket. It tastes of cow. And it is always topped with the most delicious cream.

The clouds cleared briefly when I came out of the library, so I heeded the excited whining dog in the back of the car and we drove up to Cape Wanbrow for a fast up and down-up and down walk in the reserve. We reached the car just as the rain returned and the views disappeared.

Fortunately there are buckets of fruit to be used in cobblers for the freezer (I’ll squeeze them in somewhere!), to be made into cordial and bottled. So the day is far from idle, despite persistent drizzle falling outside.

Thank you for all the lovely comments, stars and hearts for the last couple of days. Blippers are kind generous people.
