33 years on

Busy day. Got up early and got on the bike and then started on a rewrite of a report. Drove Ottawacker Jr to school... temperatures rising.

More report - finally had a break for the Champions League semi-final, a reasonably entertaining 3-3 draw against Benfica, which put us in the semi-finals against Villarreal.

Half-time had a call telling me there had been a big accident involving a taxi in which my sister, her husband, and four of my friends were riding. They were on holiday in Cornwall and got into a head-on smash. All OK, thankfully,  but one of them is still in hospital.

An astonishing piece of news came along with it. There is only one A&E department in Cornwall. They were in St Ives and had to be taken to the hospital in Truro in a series of police cars. WTF would have happened had it been a matter of life and death? How does the UK survive like this?
