A good walk round the top fields of Alker’s Farm at Winstanley this afternoon, and having lain fallow for at least three years, Farmer Alker has planted this field he rents: it’s not been used as it had been sold by the Bankes family to a joint venture by Orrell RUFC and Winstanley CC, but fundraising stopped due to Covid! The field will get two more crops before being turned into two rugby pitches, and a cricket pitch, with associated clubhouse.
