Push!

All together now, push! These tiny, soft, fragile, freshly germinated seedlings somehow find the strength to push away slabs of hard, crusted, gravelly soil. How do they do it? How can a tiny seed contain enough energy to make the little plant and then push through that hard ground? They don’t get any sunlight to make energy until they have broken through.
