Apple blossom

These are lovely flowers on an apple tree of our neighbours allotment. The trees were planted about ten years ago but since then there have been at least four different lots of people renting that plot! I don’t think people realise that when they take on an allotment it does need a lot of work and lots of watering in the summer too. Some people did not last even one year after the initial enthusiasm. I share the plot with a friend and we can take it in turns to do necessary tasks in the growing season…neither of our husbands are gardeners but will come and lend a hand occasionally eg shed roof repairs! . We have a whole plot but either side of us the original plots have been divided into two..so instead of two neighbours we now have four…only one of whom we have seen working on their plot recently…..two there has been no sign of since last autumn!

I spent several hours there preparing another runner bean area and also planting some sunflower seeds plus doing some strimming and weeding. All our strawberry plants have lots of flowers which seems very early. However our raspberries are not showing much sign of growth, last year we did not get a good crop so maybe they need replacing next year.
