“A journey of a thousand miles …

… begins with a single step”.

Today has been spent getting this ultralight backpack finalised ready to start our GR1 hike tomorrow. The GR1 is an historical trail combining great scenery with insights into Spain’s fascinating history. This walking route runs from west to east across northern Spain, starting at the Puerto de Tarna, a pass on the regional border between Asturias and Castillo y León, heads east along the flank of the Cantabrian mountains, the plain of Navarre and the foothills of the Pyrenees and then finishes on the Mediterranean coast at Sant Martí d’Empúries near L’Escala. It’s a long walk, some 1,250km. We Initially aim to do half this spring and the second half in the autumn.

I hope to manage a blip journal of the hike and take you along too.
