Muttley's Musings

Leading the way

Race day in the World Endurance Championship, and Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Loic Duval started their Audi R18 e-tron quattro hybrid from the second row behind the two Toyota hybrids, but Allan soon took the lead, then the race boiled down to a race between Allan's Audi and the sister car of reigning World Champions Lotterer, Fassler and Treluyer.

In this photo you can see the No. 2 Audi heading down the National Pits Straight having just passed on Oak LMP2 car.

After a mid race rain shower, and a late race spin Allan was 30 seconds behind Treluyer with 40 minutes of the race left and he hunted the sister Audi down and passed it with less than 5 minutes of the 6 hour race left to win by 3 seconds. It was thrilling to watch and it was great to see one of my hero's win his home race. The last time I saw Allan win was in 2008 also here at Silverstone.

Now for the World Championship and the Le Mans 24 Hours race!
