Nest

This nest is clearly visible in a fork of a tree in our daughter's new garden. The tree is quite a large prunus avium, which is a wild cherry tree, known as gean here in Scotland. There's no sign of life at the nest  so I think it's from a previous year.

When I was gardening earlier I disturbed a baby bird well hidden in a pile of leaves and twigs in a corner. I think it was a fledgling blackbird recently out of the nest. It scuttled off under a fence into the base of next door's hedge.
