Hout

A lunchtime walk along the delightful beach in Hout Bay to fetch a coffee and pasty from the town centre. I particularly enjoyed the guy vaping whilst metal detecting.

Hout Bay has a long history of settlement by original inhabitants gathering resources from the beaches and seas, supplanted by Dutch and British interlopers. The name Hout derives from a longer Dutch word, and one of the draws for European settlement here was the extensive woodland, supplying timber for the less forested centre of Cape Town.
