Building Bridges

This beautifully restored bridge over the Tore Burn at Nethermill of Pennan was constructed in 1719. It was built as a result of cooperation between the Jacobite Laird of Auchmedden and his neighbour the Hanoverian Laird of Troup. As the plaque in the extra informs us it provided the first means of travelling by road from Aberdeenshire to Banffshire.

Another beautiful day at the 'Mill Shore' and again rafts of seabirds which today included black guillemots and a few puffins. Later at Portsoy Harbour we saw the first swallow of the summer.
