City Art Centre

Last day of the Easter holidays.

MrsCyclops took CyclopsJnr to the Science Festival at the City Art Centre. The arrangement is that you buy a day-pass and book three facilitated sessions as part of that, plus between those you can do some drop-in activities too.

CyclopsJnr's sessions were:
- a session where they used different blocks to make robots, and the robots moved about and could draw shapes onto a whiteboard
- a session about dinosaurs and paleontology where they used tools and brushes to excavate a dino skeleton in a sandpit
- a session where they learned about blood and mixed some things together to simulate a scab

CyclopsJnr also built things from foam shapes and Lego, made a painting from colours sourced from vegetables, looked at a dead fly and part of a spine under a microscope, crafted a starfish and displayed it in a strangely lit
underwater cave scene (pictured) and a few other hands-on bits and pieces.

It was good, we'd go again.
