The Pineapple - Dunmore Estate

Dunmore Estate is possibly most known for The Pineapple (pictured here) and surrounding gardens and pond, which the National Trust for Scotland manages; however, if you explore further, you will come across the ruins of Dunmore Park House, its stables and Elphinstone Tower.

Dunmore Park House was abandoned in 1964, and despite proposals to both demolish and restore it, nothing has ever happened to it or the nearby stables. However, any Outlander fans might know the house has been used as a filming location.

I love finding buildings like these, and although you can get right up to them and go inside, I would do so at your own risk.
Nature has well and truly taken over these ruins, so I don't know how accessible they will continue to be and how long they will last before any more of the structure collapses!

It must have been a magnificent estate in its time, so it’s pretty sad to see it as it is now!

If you would like to see more images from my time there today then you can take a look here.
