Puffins #1

The puffins have arrived back on the cliffs at the Bullers of Buchan for the breeding season.  They would appear to be jumping for joy at seeing their old friends again.  No wonder they are pleased as the storms this winter were ferocious and alas some won’t have survived.

I saw around twenty puffins which was encouraging and there will be more which haven’t put in an appearance on the cliffs just yet.  It is a small colony and most years there are no more than 40-50 nesting there.
