The Oakenshaw Cross, Wyke Lane, Oakenshaw

The Oakenshaw Cross was erected in 1702 (on the site of a previous cross) by the lord of the manor Dr Richardson of Bierley Hall in memory Sarah his wife who died in October 1702, the cross from its position at that period could be seen from Bierley Hall.

Originally it had three sundials of which at two survive as the styles can be seen protruding out from the stone.
