Flower Friday.

Started the day well with a swim at 7.30!

Walked anti-clockwise around Buttermere having been earth day conscious and taken the bus there! Waiting at the bus stop we watched a bubble car rally pass, some with three wheels, some with four, which had just come over the Whinlatter pass. Sorry no pictures! A fresh blowy walk along the west shore with views up to the surrounding fells and delightful woodland.

As we turned to walk along the south shore and round to the east shore the sun came out and shined on us. Very different terrain with more meadow and larch trees this blip being the flower of the larch. I had not seen them before apart from on blip!

The gorse was out and was scenting the air with coconut. I had an icecream at the beginning of the walk and one at the end, both delicious and the one at the end was made on the farm where it was being sold with milk from the cows in the byte! Couldn’t refuse that especially as they had sour cherry ripple!

The first bus that came took us back the way we had come and we got off at Whinlatter visitor centre where I was disappointed to learnthat there is no current viewing platform for the osprey nest. The osprey moved to a platform on private land and the land owner will not let them put a camera there and will not let them ring the three chicks which are expected.

We meandered down from the top through forest, past alpacas and some stunning houses back to Braithwaite. We left atv10.30 and got back at 5.15! Very tired this evening so will comment tomorrow!
