Lost Souls Wounded Hearts

My friend Stuart is not only the lead guitarist in our covers band, but is the driving force behind local band God Damn Smile, co-writing the songs and recording them in his home studio. The band started due to a chance reunion between Stuart and Gary (lead singer) just before the pandemic took hold, and developed over the next couple of years, interspersed with various lockdowns.
I’ve had the privilege of listening to many of the tracks as they’ve developed from a rough guide vocal to the fully mixed and mastered final version. But last night was the first chance I’ve had to hear them played live by the full band. It was also the first time that this line up had played together live as they have been through a few bass players and drummers prior to this point. It might only have been the function room of a local pub, but many friends and family had turned out to support the guys.
Not only was it great music but it was my first “proper” social night out in almost three years. Very nice to catch up with several people I either hadn’t seen for a while or who I don’t normally get time to chat to for a variety of reasons.
The band do have management and there are several more gigs - and small festivals - lined up for the summer. There is already quite a following on a couple of music streaming sites and their singles have been played on many internet radio stations. But it’s going to be the live support that they need as nobody makes money from singles or albums these days.
The title of todays blip is the current single, which you can find on Spotify, if you want to check it out.
