Controversy

Today I enjoyed the extra space in my new-ish kitchen. I made some celeriac kraut with a chunk of celeriac I had left over, and a batch of scones. Who would have thought these baked items could be the basis for controversy. Are they pronounced to rhyme with gone or stone? Then there’s the whole business of the cream tea - jam or cream first? So important to the English way of life. I remember spotting a sign on one of the freezers at Longshaw saying “Emergency Scones”.
