Some parkrun tourism

Well, just in case you thought I spend every Saturday morning parkrunning at Cramond, here’s a surprise. Today we did the wonderful Fountains Abbey parkrun in North Yorkshire. The 5k parkrun takes place in the beautiful National Trust grounds of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden. The NT very generously allow parkrunners into the grounds free of charge to run the lovely scenic route before the general public are allowed in at 10am. English parkruns start at 9am, so we were in the grounds, did our parkrun and were out again more or less by 10am. If you want to stay longer you have to come out and then re-enter for the appropriate charge. At 10am the cafe at the Visitor Centre opens and it is then very well utilised by the parkrunners who promptly eat more calories in scones or bacon rolls than they run off (and we were no exception),

The extras show my husband finishing and me photobombing someone else’s parkrun mascot and celebration 50 (runs presumably) balloon. I seem to have a flag growing out of my head, so serves me right!
