Reading companion

It's been a lovely day here.  I've spent much of it reading in the garden.

Birdsong has been incredible. A tiny wren was belting out its song, ample competition for blackbirds and robins.  

My reading was also accompanied by hoverflies suspended a couple of centimetres from my ears, their wings a frantic blur. Impossible for me to photograph. 

Clouds of tiny flies circling mid-air and glinting in the sunlight whenever I looked up from my page.

A very relaxing day.
