Wound up in Wexford

Heiligenhafen, Parkplatz Ostseeblick

Just a few miles from the Puttgarden ferry terminal.  It's a rest stop on the A1.  No cafe, but toilets, lots of play equipment, lots of lorries, and two EV chargers.  We found it last year, and it's perfectly positioned for our charging needs, so we used it again this year.  The chargers were busy, but no queues.

After stopping here, we carried on to Puttgarden, and as we had made good time, we decided to investigate the Bordershop.  This turned out to be a huge alcohol warehouse, containg a vast selection of every variety of alcohol known to man.  The alcohol duty in Germany is much lower than in the Scandinavian countries, so there were busloads of Swedes and Danes on "booze cruises".  We bought some champagne, and some gin, but were very restrained.

We had a totally uncomplicated trip, except that we met a small problem at the Swedish border.  We were pulled aside by the police!  BLOODY BREXIT!  W, with his Irish passport, was fine, but I needed something extra.  A hotel reservation would probably have been fine, but we don't have that.  A return flight - also not available.  But fortunately, we had printed up the return ferry booking, and that was acceptable.

After that little diversion, we arrived at R's house in Malmö in time to say goodnight to the boys and enjoy a gin.
