Through the Wall and to the Station, onwards to…

Up before dawn on another rainy day in Lucca. We bought mini-umbrellas for ‘rain insurance’ and they came through- there was a break in the rain for our trek to the train station so no need for them! We walked through one of the many tunnels in Le Mura, exiting the walled city of Lucca to the world outside. We take the Regionale train to Firenze, then the Freccia Rosso - the fast train with few stops to Napoli, then we hop on the Campania Express that brings us around Mt. Vesuvious to our next stop - Castellamare di Stabia. A long day of travel, but we were rewarded with the best seafood dinner along the Lungamare, and a spectacular seaview sunset.
