Coastal path

It was a lovely sunny start to the day.  In fact my husband was unknown tome up at 5.15 having a cup of tea and enjoying the pre sunrise light over the harbour.  After breakfast we set off intending to walk to Zennor along the inland 'Coffin path'.  We thought we would start by walking along the coast path and then head inland to pick up the path.  In the end we were enjoying the scenery so much we decided to stick with the coast path to Zennor and walk back on the Coffin Path.  The coastal path was full of bluebells, primroses and small blue wildflowers.  We heard skylarks, saw linnets, ravens, caterpillars, large beetles and some seals.  We also crossed an attractive clapper bridge, see extra

The terrain at times was quite demanding and we were certainly in need of food and drink when we arrived for a late lunch.  Fortunately the local pub was still serving food and we returned along the much flatter and inland Coffin path.  Its an interesting walk with many ancient fields, old buildings and many granite stiles.  You certainly get a feel of walking on a very old route between the villages and homes.  We walked a total of 14 miles today so were pretty tired once we got back to our accommodation.  An easier walk is planned for tomorrow.
