Another mystery plant

This one is around 2 metres tall, about 6ft in old money. It has lovely fat flowers buds. I think it must be  a tree peony but I haven't found anything with quite the same foliage. It has been hacked about most awfully in the past but is clearly making a comeback. I wonder what colour it will be.
