Cherry Blossom

We spent the afternoon in Alnwick Garden. These photos were taken in the Cherry Orchard which I found magical. I played around with a little ICM in some of these photos - I hope you like them.

The cherry blossom originates from Taihaku but when the gardener who planted the orchard visited Japan in the 1930s, he was informed that this variety was then extinct in Japan. However, he remembered seeing a tree in West Sussex and when he returned to England, he took cuttings of that tree and sent them out to Japan where they are now re-established. The trees in the Alnwick garden all come from cuttings from the tree in West Sussex.
