Champagne tasting

Hurrah! - top champagne tasting on Saturday night at Weybridge Rowing Club. 9 of the sparkliest chosen for their varying quality and taste. Mostly little known names but with characters all of their own.

This excellent little number is all Pinot Meunier (the cheap grape), but produced by a small grower who really knows how to make an interesting bottle.

We think we have established that we don't much care for the champagnes that have a large proportion of Chardonnay grapes in them, preferring the Pinot Noir rich ones. But a bit of Chardonnay gives a bit more roundness to the flavour.

Anyway, all top shtuff and we shadly couldn't drink it all ... otherwise we would never have found the way home through the dark wooded trails from the club.
