Too much choice!

Lots of choice of photos today as we went to Blenheim Palace. I could have chosen shots of some guys with a chainsaw cutting up a colossal tree that was obviously diseased and had therefore been felled. Or it could have been the cascade at the end of the lake, or the pair of headless swans (not really headless, but they both chose to stick their heads underwater at the same time). Then there were the butterflies in the butterfly house - again lots of choice, but the one that I have selected occurred while Anne was trying to take a photo, and this was just snapped with my phone!

Isn't it funny how some days we have lots of options but on others our choices are limited. It seems to me that that is reflected in lots of areas of life, not just in blipping! Sometimes our choices, while still an active decision are a lot more controlled by what is going on around and thus limited. Whereas on other days we have so much choice that it almost gets harder to choose.

I wonder if Jesus felt a bit like that when he made a choice to go off and find some quiet space with his disciples, but then the crowds spotted him and his space was invaded by people in need. He could still choose whether to help or not, but the outcome of the day was probably not what he envisaged .
At one point when he was challenged about his choices and actions he replied ...
"Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. (John 5v19)".

Choices - my prayer is that when it matters I might choose wisely.
