Pierre de Moellé

Right on the col, the huge rock (Pierre de Moellé) looked rather like a castle this morning against the gathering storm clouds. This is an area that is used by the Swiss army for maneuvers so you can’t always access it but in the winter it is the domain of the Black Grouse. I was in the area for a meeting so drove here this morning to check if the road was snow free before going there again tomorrow. Fingers crossed we shall hear, and see, the courtship dance of these rare birds.

P.S. Though I couldn’t find  any reference to it on the internet, people seem to be unanimous in thinking yesterday’s mud-eating chamois was eating the minerals.
