Barka - fort and mosque

On our rest day, I hired a car with a friend and headed west from Muscat to Barka, a small town on the coast about an hour away. It has a traditional fort overlooking the Gulf of Oman. After a wander around in the roasting midday sun we had a refreshing coconut juice before heading back to Muscat for a quick look around the Royal Opera House before rest and operating the flight home.

Disappointingly we didn't feel the earthquake which struck across the Straits of Hormuz in Iran, but our colleagues at the hotel did as well as the flight crew in Abu Dhabi !
