Dam good progress

Another trip up to the Waimea Dam project which has no public access so I am only able to get there with a friend who is doing a video/360 tour of the build and he needed some stills which was my task.
The main Blip shows the Downstream face with the tunnel through the dam which is to be valved and piped and the Spillway which also has to be completed.
At the end of the Spillway the "Pool" that the Spillway drains to is under construction and being dug out ready to be reinforced and lined. Where I was standing to take the shot will be part of the Pool when complete.

In the Extra the scale of the project can be seen with the upstream face of the dam in the top left corner of the shot and the water level will be up at where the tree line starts and will go back 36 kilometres.

A controversial project as some believe that the commercial growers in our region are the main beneficiaries but every year we have water restrictions and the town is growing with a build halfway through of 750 houses and planning in motion for 2000 more. Some also believe the cost is too much especially with the overruns which Covid has not helped but I am in the "damn" the cost group as water is the lifeblood of any community.
