‘Vintage Washing Powder?’

I’ve never thought of washing powder being like fine wine before, but when I spotted these packs of Ariel and Fairy Snow, prominently displayed in the window of a slightly quirky antiquarian booksellers and bookbinders, I was forced to reassess!

Apparently boxes of vintage of washing powder - especially unopened ones - are in high demand, as a quick look on eBay quickly confirmed!

Unfortunately the shop wasn’t open, so I couldn’t get any further information, but I would guess that they date from the 1980s (or possibly earlier - as early as late 60s?), Certainly, the weight is given in lbs & oz, rather than metric  (see extra).

Must go back sometime when the shop’s open and find out more!
