A Success Story

I chose this photo today because I enjoyed the interaction between the hawk (Red-tailed, I think) and his tormentor, a noise Red-winged Blackbird, and because it demonstrates an important environmental success.  My daughter played soccer at this location, about twenty years ago.  More recently the marshland has been extended, aquatic plants added, and ribbons and fencing installed to discourage geese from taking up residence.  With all of the news about climate change and the destruction of wildlife habitat, this local success story gives me hope.
