Anne's Daily Encounters

МИР

May  5th is our national Freedom Day. Since 1946 we celebrate that WW II ended here in the Netherlands on that date in 1945 and the day prior on May 4th we commemorate the victims of that WW II.

I took to the city Den Haag and walked around the Malieveld, where a Freedom Festival was given and I passed by from 'Little John' the statuette opposit our Houses of Parliament that's still dressed in Yellow&Blue for Ukraine.
We all here have extra thoughts on the war that Putin rages against Ukraine these days.  Blipped Little John in March too

I loved to see the little white dove on his finger with the letters МИР on its chest ~ Peace t.i.

Another passer-by told me that the lady who's made Little John's UBY outfit had made him a new hat as some had stolen (destroyed?!) its former blue hat.. it's true that this bonnet is decorated with more flowers, like the Ukranian girls and women wear traditionally.

Thank you all lots for your reactions upon my recent blips and those from Heerlen; lots and lots appreciated!
