Falkland Palace from the Orchard

Alice, Isobel and I had a day out to Falkland in Fife.  It's a beautiful village with windy streets and 17th century houses.  In 1501 James IV began the build of Falkland Palace in the French influenced Renaissance architectural style.  It was intended to house the royal court when they went there to hunt in the surrounding forests.  Mary Queen of Scots was a frequent visitor.  Her father, James V, died here in 1542.
