The roots have it!

This evening we were orienteering on Hob Moor and West Bank Park, York. The score event had been planned by my daughter, Maria, so I had gone to help with putting out the controls and stationed myself in the park as it was due to close at 8 pm and we didn't want any of our equipment to be locked in. I spent the time wandering around and trying, unsuccessfully to catch action shots of a few orienteers. Was very impressed by the roots of this old tree spreading forth to gather nutrients and anchor the tree to the surrounding earth.
