With a Little Help From My Friends

I don't know how he got in, but there he was, inching his way across the grid. Inchworms are also called measuring worms, because of the way they seem to be marking off the distance between two points. And they move like that because they don't have any legs in the middle, so they have to haul one end forward at a time, making that characteristic loop in the middle. Clever, but it looks exhausting. No inchworms were harmed in the making of this blip, although I read later in the day that a big enough group of these guys can take down a beloved plant quite easily.
