Fishing history

Martin and I have had a busy, but enjoyable day.

We went to the Vue cinema this morning to see the new Doctor Strange film, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

This afternoon, we decided to have a wander by Port Seton, where we chanced on the ‘Boatie Blest’ exhibition of model boats of Cockenzie and Port Seton.

The exhibition was lovely, a beautiful array of locally built models, which gave a view into the rich maritime history of the area. We spoke to Tom Donaldson, who proudly stood by two models he had made of boosts that he and his father had owned. He even took the time to show us old photos of himself and his dad out fishing for prawns, lobsters and scallops.

Tom was lovely, and took such pride in the local East Lothian fishing history.

The University of Edinburgh are taking the opportunity to record stories and digitise all the models during this exhibition, in order that this important local history is preserved for future generations.

I have added a couple of extras too, inc. one of what a local fishwife would wear.

A lovely day for sure.
