Female Bufflehead

Was in Stouffville today teaching and decided to visit a small reservoir pond that I had visited before, on my way home. There were a few Canada geese there as well as the lone Bufflehead duck. I had never seen one of these ducks before and looked it up in my bird book. Apparently they are found from the Great Lakes across the west and up into Alaska. Always learning something new!
