Day 19: Tradition

A local(ish) couple walking on the beach while Mrs P and I walked in the sea. Picture taken to cover the Tradition part of the challenge.

I say localish, as they are definitely GCC Arabs, but I'm not sure if they are from the Emirates.
Generally speaking, and its not stead fast, but the Emirati's mostly wear white Keffiyehs/Ghutrahs - the head scarfs.
Red one's generally display a heritage of Saudi or Jordanian origin.

That said the more I ask locals about it, the more they say that younger wearers change colours as a matter of fashion and preference

The woman traditionally wears a Abaya and Hijab, covering the body and hair.
You see pictures in the news of full body jet black Abaya's and Burqa's being worn. But that isn't the case in Dubai. Fittingly for such a glitzy, showy city the local women have adapted the style to have diamante trimmed, glamorous Abaya's generally just covering Prada shoes, bright trousers, and complimented with expensive sunglasses which MUST be worn both inside and outside :)

Both Erin and Andrew are doing the same challenge this month and are showing interesting sights from around the country
